You can't have that in the instantaneous battles of TW. During that time, smaller armies can be disengaged or moved in as reinforcements, while your strategy for the rest of the war is affected by how many brigades are bogged down there. There's also the dimension of time - a battle within a province in Vic2 can last for many days, weeks, or even, in some cases, months. In a typical Paradox game there are so many battles, small or big, that it would take so long to play them TW-style, you wouldn't get anything else done. It's not a matter of 'advancement' but of gameplay style. If you're looking for in-game battles, you're in the wrong sub-genre. I dont see anything that could call my attention for this game ,and i only pocess war strategie games, the only good thing that his game has is the time that is based on. Where are the ingame battles in Vitoria II for example ? I rather play risk then this game ,im sorry. Coalitions, as I understand it, tend to form against countries with high badboy, and I think this makes AI great powers more cautious.Д®dit: And the maps. The UK has not been very active in Europe and Africa recently but it has taken Burma and expanded into China. They included a war between the UK and the Netherlands (which had annexed Belgium and is currently the 5th greatest power, even after its defeat by the UK), Austria, the UK and the Ottoman Empire against Russia, and several Austrian-Prussian wars.

Raja, in my game there have been plenty of great wars between great powers, though no full scale world war. It's as different from Civ as it is from TW. Victoria 2, much like other Paradox titles but even more so, brings a level of historicity and detail unimaginable in civ - at the cost of a more limited scope, no random planets and established initial powers. I haven't played Civ V, though I have played all civ games before that. Victoria 2 is an amazingly intricate real time strategy nation simulator, where battles are done automatically and the weight on the player's attention is in diplomacy, politics, society and the economy. TW is a turned based strategy, real time tactics game, where the strategy part is relatively simplistic and the tactics part is what makes it so glorious. Of course, I didn't actually annex Austria, I just broke up the more acceptable parts of it.ДЄpples and oranges. The UK, France, and USA seem unwilling to engage in any conflicts.)

This War was the largest to date, and involved the Ottoman Empire, the Russian Empire, Prussia, Scandinavia, Egypt, Punjab, Persia, and assorted German states against Austria, Wurttemburg, Tuscany and a couple of Germanic states. The outcome of the war was the utter destruction of Austria's armies, the occupation of all but 2 or 3 regions and the re-establishment of Prussia as a legitimate Great Power. (That is, the largest war to date has been the massive war that began when Scandinavia and myself took an opportunity to attack Austria while they were busy destroying Prussia for the 3rd time. Right now it's 1904 and the AI for great powers doesn't exhibit enough of a balance of power sense to coalesce into the alliance groups necessary to start major global-scaled wars. As Russia, I don't actually do much except gradually extend my sphere of influence but I managed to utterly destroy Austria in 1898. Last I checked they had ~250,000 troops garrisoning Canada alone, and possessed a grand total of 1300 brigades.
